His interest in stem cell medicine arose out of personal experience. Dr. Dimowo had chronic back pain for many years. The pain was due to herniation and degenerative lumbar disc. He struggled to get it under control for many years without significant long-term relief. He was contemplating on minimally invasive laminectomy and discectomy. Before the final decision on surgery, he had a stem cell trial. The stem cell therapy has been so successful that he virtually does not experience any significant pain anymore. He is able to perform all activities that were limited because of the back pain. He has also regained his posture which was awkward before the stem cell injection. He now has no antalgic gait. He is off his NSAID. He wishes to avail patients of the same opportunity. Hence he has been involved in stem cell and functional medicine for the past 2 years.
